The selected option involved replacing all front and rear siding of the garage. For this change order, my strategy involved immersing all siding in a wood preservative prior to priming. This also allows me to provide them a full warranty for the work as well. To execute this, I constructed a 17ft Dunk Tank filled with the preservative, ensuring that all siding and trim intended for installation underwent the treatment. Using the Dunk Tank method guarantees optimal absorption of the preservative deep into the wood, surpassing the effectiveness of merely applying the liquid with a roller. Following the drying and curing process, I conducted a quick water test to confirm the efficacy of the wood preservative in preventing water penetration.
This proactive approach guarantees long-term protection for the wood, even in the event of paint failure, affording the homeowners ample time to address any paint-related concerns. Additionally, I utilized Benjamin Moore Aura Exterior acrylic paint for the garage's exterior finish which is the best commercially available exterior paint in the US.
